DIY hot chili balm | homemade beeswax & red pepper balm

This is a great balm recipe for those who: 

– prefer a natural hydrating balm.  

– need a customizable recipe for all uses. 

– prefer the use of different oils for their individual qualities.

Total Time: 30 min  

You can create your own lip balm that is specially customized for your lips and is 100% natural. With only a few simple ingredients (cayenne pepper, ginger, beeswax, grapeseed oil and melissa essential oil), you can have a homemade soothing balm in no time. 

Ingredients :  

Base : beeswax, honey 

Herbs & spices : 5g ginger (zingiber officinale), 5g cayenne pepper (capsicum annuum), 7g baking soda 

Oils : 7ml olive oil (Olea europaea); 5ml grape seed oil (vitis vinifera);  

Scent : 8 drops Melissa (melissa officinalis) essential oil 

Directions :  

1- Cut the beeswax into small pieces.  

2- Heat your pan over a low-to-medium heat and let it sit for a few minutes. Add a drop of water and beeswax to your pan. Mix until the wax is melted. (add water if necessary). 

3- Add honey, ginger, cayenne pepper to your mixture   

-When the wax is melted add grapes seed oil, olive oil, baking soda and few drops of melissa essential oil. 

When the consistency is where you want it, add a small amount of powdered herbs such as beetroot powder. Stir it in well so that there are no lumps. 

5- Place into a freezer and let freeze for 10 min or until the balm is solid enough.  

6- Carefully pour into lip balm tubes or tins. You can clean and reuse old ones or buy new ones. You can purchase lip balm tubes here or small lip balm containers here
